For well over 40 years, winemakers have used filter papers folded into a funnel shape in their attempt to clear homemade wines and for many other uses.

Nevertheless, this method is extremely slow and tedious and will never achieve the same results as a proper wine filter.

Modern filter papers can, however, be used as a simple means for removing coarse floating debris in wines.
